PEP 8 Checker
Check Python code against PEP 8: indentation, line length, whitespace, blank lines, comparisons to None and naming. Free and private: runs in your browser.
Paste Python to get PEP 8 violations with pycodestyle-style codes (E111, E225, E302, E711…) and line numbers.
Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you paste is uploaded or stored.
Use cases
- Check a function before opening a pull request.
- Explain a review comment with numbers instead of opinions.
- Find the riskiest code to refactor first.
Frequently asked questions
What line length does PEP 8 use?
79 characters for code (72 for docstrings and comments). Many teams relax it to 88 (Black) or 100; this checker uses the PEP 8 default.
Is the PEP 8 Checker free?
Yes. It is free with no sign-up, and it runs entirely in your browser, so your input is never uploaded or stored.
How accurate is a browser-based code check?
It uses fast heuristics on the snippet you paste, so it is great for quick feedback. For whole repositories, cross-file analysis and history, run a full CodeInspector scan.
